In my opinion it is difficult to see the difference btw E-5 and E-6, but perhaps that doesn't matter in the USAF; I assume they both are addressed as "Sergeant"and no one needs to salute them.
In Finland there are different badges for Lutheran and Orthodox chaplains. In Austria there are different badges for ordained and non-ordained (deacons, lecturers) staff. In Holland they have Atheist (Humanist) (!) chaplains for non-believers. In France there is a special badge for chaplains of the ...
I don't think the alternate half-Swedish Russian empire would have been much different than the real one. After all Peter's reforms were mostly based on Swedish models. There might have been some differences, though, in the field of uniformology and hierarchology. Like blue instead of green infantry...
QUOTES: "The Making of the Roman Army: from Republic to Empire" by Lawrence Keppie. The "badge of rank" for a Centurion was a vinestick (vitis), similar to the baton carried by some British and American officers. The vinestick did not only denote rank: it was also employed as an ...
US ARMY Enlisted = 9 + ranks WO = 5 ranks CO = 10 ranks 24 + ranks ITALIAN ARMY Truppa = 9 ranks Sottufficiali = 8 ranks Ufficiali = 11 ranks 28 ranks The number of rank insignias are higher than that in the Italian Army, due to the numerous insignias denoting different positions of the same rank, ...
[img]http://www.cablit.it/caputo.jpg[/img] Maresciallo Capo of Italian Air Force Why aren't Italian Maresciallos regarded as Warrant Officers by NATO? They are mostly recruited directly from civilian life; has a training that ends with a 3-year college degree. Still they are classified as OR-8 and O...
The site above is some kind of game site, not giving the full story of the Roman army rank structure and full of redundant game information. This site is more informative: http://s_van_dorst.tripod.com/Ancient_Warfare/Rome/hierarchy.html But I do not like the references to modern Western terms like ...
I know that you can't trust everything in Wikipedia, but I also do not believe that you served before 1949. You cannot take today’s RM and compare with what was around WW II. Read the following from the London Gazette, and I think you have to admit defeat. /Luke " 1949 11 01 Warrant Officers - ...
"No, I'm not confusing RN with RM but admit, on checking back on my history books, that RM Commissioned Officers (2 grades) which replaced Lieutenant and 2nd Lieutenant for a time weren't Warrant Officers, and I apologise for that." In fact there were Royal Marine Warrant Officers "Th...
I suppor the suggestion that STANAG 2116 should be used. For non-Nato countries some principles have to be created. I suggest that for commissioned ranks, the historical status hierarchy should be used, that is, a Captain is an OF-2, whether he commands a platoon, a company or a battalion. For non-c...
Dear thegoodboy: I'm not a lawyer, but I believe that there are severe legal limitations using the material published electronically at the [glow=red]World Rank Insignia [/glow]site in a commercial publication. To all our Russian friends, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Russia, and especially with those who are in Nalchik. Luke "Shamil Basayev, the Military Amir of the Chechen Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the October 13, 2005 assault on the Russian city of Nalchik that left a...

Cross-equivalent police rank system Norway Norway has a pay grade system, there are, however some complications when trying to create a cross-equivalent police rank system. (a) The Norwegian army has a one career-path system, while the Norwegian police have a two career-path system. (b) There is no...
A company-grade officers is a commissioned officer having the rank of second lieutenant, first lieutenant, or captain, therefore I do not believe that it is OK to treat inspectors as equivalent to company grade officers. If I simplify: Constables = Subalterns Sergeants and Inspectors = Captains Chie...
Cross-equivalent police rank system UK For the UK it’s difficult to create a cross-equivalent police rank system. Yet I have tried by using the pay scales of the army and the police. As can be seen, there is not always a one-to-one equivalency between police ranks and army ranks. In fact, there is ...
For Germany it’s easy to create a cross-equivalent police rank system by using the federal pay grade system (and some knowledge of the different career-paths); although it’s not as simple as a one-to-one equivalency in all cases. As can be seen below, [glow=red]World Rank Insignia [/glow]has overval...
