The British Forces have both Officer training and Other Ranks training colleges, but I'll concentrate more on the Officers' colleges as I'm more up-to-date with them than the Other Ranks'. For the British Army: The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst http://www.sandhurst.mod.uk/; there are some good ph...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brevet_(military) That link explains "brevveting" fairly well. As for acting ranks, at least in the British Forces, anyone who has an acting rank has the lowest pay band of the rank they're currently acting, and they also wear the rank insignia of that rank. Ho...

The only website I've come across that sells subdued US General Stars is: www.soldiercity.com, but I don't think they deliver outside the US, unless they've changed their policy since I last tried to order something from them. Hope that's of some help.

These are the Regs that I've been taught on my Drill Instuctors courses at Frimely Park, amongst other establishments: 1) The instructor is to be turned out either in Number 14 Barrack Dress (shirtsleeve or pullover order, weather dependent), or full Number 2 Service Dress (if neither is available, ...

It really depends on where you live. In the UK it's illegal to impersonate a member of the armed forces (as I suspect it is in any country), but due to the vast amount of military surplus uniforms that are on sale, people wear army Number 2 Service dress jackets or RAF Number 1 Service Dress jackets...

To add to that: British Military Police in at least both the Army and the RAF (RAF Police in their case) wear a sew on patch on their right arm (the same arm brassards use to be worn on, but since S95s don't have shoulder epaullettes, one cannot be worn) that is 3"x3" (scarlet in colour) w...
