Re: La Maison Bleue (AH Republic of Quebec)

Marc,
Just wondering if you're planning on doing up a table of ranks for the Republic of Quebec (and posting on here)?

Re: Ad Astra

This shade of green reminds me more of the CAF army uniforms than the old US ones (which were olive drab in colour). Just an observation. (US) Army Green is Pantone 553. Olive green is Pantone 574. Or alternatively olive drab is Pantone 455. They are all quite different. Fair enough. I was under th...

Re: Hypothetical Canadian Ranks

As far as the RCN ranks go, the chevron ranks would be worn on the left upper sleeve with the traditional "anchor" ranks worn on the right. This would only be on the DEU jacket, cloth slides would only have the chevron ranks. The ranks of OS and AB2 wouldn't have anything on the right DEU ...

Hypothetical Canadian Ranks

Here's an idea for CAF ranks that are based on more tradition rank structure but keeping the current look. Just as a note, I didn't include appointment ranks, the senior appointments would remain the same, but I would include a junior appointment of Master Corporal. It would be 2 chevrons with a cro...

Re: US Space Corps

I saw that on the News today as well. Will be interesting to see what the uniforms and enlisted insignia will look like. I will assume that the USSF will use the USAF version of the Medal of Honor, but will have to have new decorations created, such as; Space Force Cross, Space Force Distinguished S...

Re: neo-confederate insignias

It basically comes down to how to see the air force being formed. Did it start out as an army air/flying corps (as in the US) or as a merger of air elements of army and navy (as in UK and Commonwealth). It might be interesting to not have an air force as a separate service, but have the army and nav...

Re: SECCESSONIST Nations (Map and Flag----CASCADIA)

Very interesting, sort of Canadian-US combo look in the rank insignia.
Just wondering about the navy ranks, you have master chief below senior chief. Was that a mistake or intentional (or did you mean senior master chief)?

Cheers.

Re: Scottish Armed Forces

I like the ideas presented, but do agree on a republican Scotland probably not too keen on using the star of the Order of the Thistle. I was thinking that they might use just a saltire cross isntead.

Re: SECCESSIONIST Nations (Map and Flag---SOUTHERN CAMEROONS

Looking at the map, you'd think Western Cameroons would be a more appropriate name. But anyway, I would suppose that using French style ranks would be the easiest, but could see them doing something different, as they do use stars in their flag (would probably use them in their rank insignia). Mabye...

Re: SECCESSIONIST Nations (Map and Flag---Republic of ROTUMA

If you have inspectors, why wouldn't the top rank be Chief Inspector isntead of Chief Constable? You could have a Chief Inspector and a Deputy Chief Inspector as well as a few Inspectors (with the ranks as you described). You'd need some Senior Contables besides the regular Conatables. Alternatively...

Re: SECCESSONIST Nations (Map and Flag----CASCADIA)

I agree with Touslu as I was going to suggest the same thing, using a stylised fir branch or twig as an emblem instead of the whole tree.
Would work much better.

Re: Insignia of an Army of the Republic of Quebec

If we're talking about being completely independant then a republic type government is most likely as many Quebecois don't care for the British monarchy. But if we were talking about the "soverignty assocciation" idea being successfully negotiated and a Kingdon of Quebed being formed as an...

Re: Insignia of an Army of the Republic of Quebec

I like Marc's ideas (top one similar to what I suggested). The SQ variant is intersting and I like Medic's ideas for changes to the NCO ranks (using the fleur de lys instead of the diamond shapes). The only thing I would suggest is that I couldn't see a Quebec republic just copying the CF NCO ranks ...

Re: Insignia of an Army of the Republic of Quebec

On thinking about it some more, it would be easiest for an independant Quebec to keep the armed forces insignia similar to what they are now, just swapping out maple leaves/crowns for fleur de lis. The company that supplies insignia to the Canadian military as well as many police forces (including t...

Re: Insignia of an Army of the Republic of Quebec

The current CF insignia looks closer to US military insignia than that of Britian. The only hold over from the British style ranks are the Warrant Officer insignia. The officer ranks basically use the cuff rings from the USN (without the stars or any other devices). As far as going to a French inspi...
