Ghost Recon:Wildlands Unidad

These ranks are from a video game: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Wildlands which takes place in Bolivia 2019. The National police has been remolded into La Unidad, a counter-narcotic military police force. Based on the demobilized real-life Bolivian UTAC unit. The head of Unidad is retired Bolivian Nat...

Yikes! I hope Pavel is ok.

I'd love to be able to add stuff. Sadly, I only know how to use MS Paint.

Re: Star Wars Imperial Insignias

I am not a fan of The Essential Guide to Warfare. Lucasfilm and Disney usually hire people with little to no military experience to write stuff like this and these writers make very crude assumptions or conclusions regarding structure. The movie costume department has been very inconsistent. a shame...

Re: Star Wars Imperial Insignias

With the new Rogue One Star Wars movie teaser trailer we can see a guy in a white cape and what appears to be Imperial Security Bureau uniform with admiral level rank. Note that he has code cylinders whereas the ISB guy in the original trilogy did note have code cylinders. Attached here is only the ...

Re: Star Wars Imperial Insignias

According to the new canon Marvel Comics Star Wars: Darth Vader, General Tagge from the Death Star lived. The Emperor backed him and he was promoted to grand general. His insignia is the same as that worn by grand admiral Thrawn, but he does not wear a white uniform. Pablo Hidalgo and Leland Chee In...

Re: Star Wars Force Awakens The Resistance

Here are the ranks of the Resistance. They are described as a small outfit sorta supported by elements of the Republic, but also has serious enemies within the Republic. Leia Organa is the General-in-Chief and modestly wears no rank insignia. The ranks appear to be of Alderaanian influence. Of note-...

Re: Star Wars Force Awakens First Order

The Empire had enlisted ranks, but there were not many, probably only squad leader and sergeant similar to the First Order. Conversely, petty officer and chief petty officer for the Imperial Navy. I do not think the Empire needed to have many grades of rank considering the amount of automation (droi...

Re: Star Wars Force Awakens First Order

I have been working on Stormtrooper ranks and insignia. You are correct that the shoulder pads indicate rank based on the color: Black (trooper) White (sergeant) Orange (officer). I am finishing up a chart of the Resistance based upon the Visual Dictionary and yes, their ranks are influenced heavily...

Re: Star Wars Force Awakens First Order

Count0Down, I think the CPO and PO are Sergeant and Squad Leader, respectively. I will have to double check the Visual Dictionary, but I think they were those cuff bands. The Visual Dictionary only had the grade of Admiral with red piping to the cuff bands, but I think the inference is that all nava...

Re: Star Wars Imperial Insignias

I have edited the Empire Strikes Back Imperial ranks to differentiate between the army and navy. The army having slightly more narrow red and blue squares. ** I know, where are the ultra ranks like grand admiral? They are not part of the new canon. I'm not saying my chart is canon. This chart is my ...

Re: Star Wars Force Awakens First Order

Marc,

There was a "letter" symbol on the last two that I could not find in Auerbesh. These were the "letter/numbers" used in the Visual Dictionary and that is authored by Pablo Hildago, who is in charge of the canon for Lucasfilm.

Based upon watching the movie a few times and buying the Star Wars Force Awakens Visual Dictionary, this chart represents the observable and stated rank insignia.

Re: Star Wars Imperial Insignias

As of Empire Strikes Back the ranking system becomes more clear. And now with the new canon being established it appears we are getting additional information on galactic rank. As of Episode VII the resistance uses a modified Alderaanian system and the First Order uses a very unique system of arm (c...

Re: Star Wars Imperial Insignias

In honor of the new movie being released and my enjoyment of the Star Wars story I started thinking about the original trilogy uniforms. Medic is right that even though Lucas hired John Mollo to work on uniforms the art department just used whatever they though looked good for the scene. Hey, they w...

I like a lot of the new insignia Pavel has been posting. Making it look more realistic with textures and metalic devices and embroidered looking devices.

In line with that I have redone the Syria Chart I posted awhile back.

Here is another picture of the newly promoted Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in the less formal everyday (winter) uniform. Largely the same as the formal portrait uniform, but lacking the gold border around the epaulets.

I do not think Mushir Sisi will stay in the military long. Civilian suits are in his future so this could be the last Egyptian field marshal for a while.

Re: Field Marshals, Captains General and Generals of the Arm

I had a tough time deciding where to post this, but this topic thread seems to fit for now.

Egyptian Armed Forces Chief Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi has been promoted to Field Marshal...and he has never served in combat (political combat does not count).

Thanks Marc, those are really nice. I had not heard of that show.

However, here is the ranks for the fictional Los Santos Police Department from the 2013 game Grand Theft Auto V.

They are based very closely on the Los Angeles Police Department.

Working on cleaning up a couple things and I'll be able to post more charts. Assad Era is fading fast. He will likely be the last and only wearer of this 3-star pattern FM grade. Marvel Comics Countries

I have been a long time Marvel comics collector. I largely collect 1962-1992. Anyway, I have these recently published Marvel Atlas that go into surprising detail on each fictive state in the MU. I created a couple charts based upon the visual information in the issues, but also extrapolation and sup...

Having taken a quick look at the situation, I'm supposed to be doing school work, I see that they are predominantly Somali. I guess I am not very creative because I see them essentially adopting Somali style insignia. I would leave out an air force as way beyond their means, but I'll work on police,...

Probably some iteration of current Canadian ranks. Armies are expensive to equip and I have found that most new nations adopt the ranking systems of their former colonial masters even if they hate them!
