Montenegro (the world's newest independent nation), has just been fully accepted as the 192nd member of the United Nations! (The last was East Timor.)
It looks like we're going to need information on the Insignia of Rank of the Montenegrin Armed Forces!
Will their armed forces Insignia of Rank most likely resemble Serbia's (for the time being), or will they take off in an entirely new direction of their own, with rank insignia of their own design?
Maybe they will come back to the I ww period - thay had some ineresting rank insignia - especially the headgear nationality badges (it clearly indicated the rank being bronze or silver or gold or in combination)
Image is from Valtrex's post about Balkan Armed Forces in WWI. It is not easy to upload the page because of numerous images, but there is a description underneath this image on the original page.
As you can see, every rank had different cap insignia, whereas shoulder boards are only for officers. I am currently looking for images of Montenegro forces. I've asked my friends in Podgorica, the capital, to help me out and as soon as they find it I'll share it with you.
Following image was take few days ago during Serbian President's visit to Podgorica.
The uniforms are the old ones of VSCG, including the headgear, wherear the insignia is a bit different. As you can see both AF and Navy personel wear the same doubleheaded eagle on the caps and the same eagle on the read background as a patch on the left sleeve. The belt is new as well. Rank insignia is the same as the one of VSCG.
Surelly, it will soon be changed, or as soon as Montenegro finalizes the Law on Defence.
