CWO-3 USAF Astronaut (Pilot)

Hi Everyone!

Presented here is my illustration of the rank/specialty insignia for a USAF Chief Warrant Officer (CWO-3) who is an Astronaut (Pilot), AFSC 13A3.

This person's specialty insignia is a smaller version of the USAF Astronaut (Pilot) wings, with the actual (larger) wings being worn in its standard position on the breast.

I make this distinction as Astronaut (Pilot) that this person actually pilots the spacecraft,
as opposed to an Astronaut (Mission Specialist).

Hi Comte!!

Actually the USAF hasn't had warrant officers since the 1960's, but as this is the Hypothetical Ranks section, I thought that it would be kind of nice to re-instate them!

The way I have it set up:

(1) USAF Warrant Officer ranks have been brought back.
(2) The rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO-5) has been added to be equivalent to the other services.
(3) USAF Warrant Officers can occupy any and all of the specialties that commissioned officers can (except for positions like doctors, scientists and the like who are always commissioned.) Warrant Officers are NOT just specialists, they can also be Line Officers.
(4) All of the enlisted ranks (from E-1 to E-9) are eligible to become Warrant Officers.
For Example: An E-1 just out of Boot Camp (Basic Training) could become a pilot, and he or she would be promoted to Warrant Officer (WO-1), (thus eliminating the requirement of having a university degree before becoming a pilot.)

I've made changes for warrant officers in the other service branches as well.
