I think there rank insignia system was the same or quite similar to the WW1 German rank insignia.

Yes, ranks of Prussia ( before the proclamation of the Second Reich in 1871 ) were similar to whose in use in 1914-1918 in the whole German Army.

Yes, the Rankinsignia for Generals since 1866, for staff officers since 1832 (nearly the same) and and officers Lt. to Cpt. since 1832 but not from 1866 to 1888.
