Lt (j:g) (O-2) Navy Counselor Officer

Hi Everyone!

Presented here is my illustration of a rank/specialist insignia for a Lieutenant (j:g) (O-2), who is a Navy Counselor officer.

The Navy Counselor symbol worn with the rank insignia of warrant officers and commissioned officers is in gold, and is based on the rating symbol worn by enlisted personnel (shown in the upper right-hand corner of the illustration.)
(The Career Counselor badge is displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the illustration.)

The Navy Counselor (NC) rating is now also an entry level position, open to all enlisted rates (from E-1 to E-9), as well as all Warrant Officers (WO-1 to CWO-5) and all commissioned officers.
Personnel committed to training may wear their Navy Counselor rating symbol from the time they start Technical School.

Only upon successful completion of training, are personnel allowed to wear the Career Counselors badge.

Navy Counselors duties include: interviewing personnel; career counseling; preparing and delivering talks; organizing, training, motiviating and managing an agressive career information program; establishing and maintaining liason with the Navy Personnel Command and local media; working closely with the transition assistance managers at Family Service Centers (FSC's); offer career guidance to Navy personnel aboard ships and at shore commands and manage the Navy's Command Career Information Program.

Navy Counselors work closely with Navy Recruiters (who have their own specialty rating.) At least one Navy Counselor is stationed at each Navy Recruiting Office to assist Navy Recruiters.
