UN peacekeepers.

I once discussed this with Marc Pasquin and designed the initial stages of the new UN peacekeeping force rank insignia.

We tried it to be unbiased as possible.

I elaborated more on the ranks, creating a five-star general rank and three more enlisted ranks. .

I kind of like it, although I'd do pentagons more like 5 pointed star . On the other hand it just hit me! Remember the symbol of peace is a dove. So why not make insignias around that as well (And yes somewhat they look like FUSSR insignias).

I know you're trying to eschew any national styles or heraldry for these insignia, but those geometric shapes make the insignia look a lot like early soviet rank insignia.
Guess it's all about the same starting principle: simple rank insignia, with no previous national connections.
It's a sound idea, don't get me wrong, but what I'm saying here is that the commies did it first, the concept's soiled.
Otherwise nice idea.

I like Ziba's idea of using doves.

Another idea could be using the UN insignia in #s and just having "UNITED NATIONS" or "UN" on the bottom of the slip on shoulder tabs.
