Does anyone know if this is a real uniform patch?

This was used in a television show, I'm just not sure if it was real or made for the production. There is an identical smaller version on his cap.

It looks hexagonal with a round cog and then what may be either 4 knives in an x-pattern or even lightning.

The reason I think these may have been real is that they are fully embroidered. The rest of the patches that were created specifically for the show were printed and then sewn on only around the borders.

If anyone recognizes it, please let me know.

Do you remember the name of the show?

Kinda looks like an episode of the Outer Limits.
They got plenty of mish-mashed sci-fi stories.
