Yes, it is a fascinating little film and I like to call it the first alternate history film. Hard to believe it was made on a low budget by a couple of schoolboys, Kevin Brownlow and Andrew Mollo. Brownlow would later become a prominent cinema historian and Mollo would go on to design the imperial costumes for the Star Wars films.

really is a matter of taste. I like it but I can see how other might not considering its in black and white, filmed on a shoe string budget, the vast majority of characters are played by non-professional actors and many scene consist solely of someone making a speech.

That being said, some of these gives it a bit of a documentary feel which really help sells the fictional environment.
