Hello,
I know that this is not the proper place for such questions and this post will probably be deleted, but I am desperately looking for some info on certain Stiepan Vajda, a Czech soldier who was posthumously awarded a title of the Hero of the Soviet Union + photograph, if any available. The info can be in any language (Czech, English, Russian, German...).
I have heard of podpor. by that name who served in armor troops in Czech unit in the USSR, but I am not sure if this is the same person.
I would be greateful for any information, but I will understand if this post is deleted.

Hmmm, well... Here is a track, anyway...
I don't know where you are from, but since you understand Czech, and Russian language, I believe you are living in the Czech Republic ??!!!
If he is an Hero of the Soviet Union, there is a two-volumes work about these, which gives some informations ( dates, circumstances, number ... ).
The title is , if I well remember, simply "Gjeroi SSSR". Since that book was published around 1986-88, and since the Eternal Love it existed between SSSR and CSSR, it seems me very doubtfull that the Schwarzenberg Palace ( the military museum ) doesn't hold a copy among the shelves of its library, and more, that not an article, a poster, a booklet , ever appeared... I don't believe that hundreds of Czech Citizens were " Hero of the Soviet Union ", so the Few were undoubtely very much publicized.
And what about its military file ? Perhaps is it possible to obtain a copy ?And also, what about the Chancery of the Czech Orders ? One can suppose he was awarded with the "White Lion" ?
If you live outside the Czech republic, did you try through the Embassy ?

As I recall, sometimes in the early '80's there was a book published, entitled "Bratrstvi a tradice. Armady Varsouvskie smlouvy" (sorry if I misspelled). I saw there a complete list of the Czech and Slovak people that received this award. I'm sure you can find the book at some major Prague library (national library, MoD library).

Yes, Miklos, you're right, and probably also in the book ( equally misspelled ) ; " Ceskoslovenske Lidove Armadni " ( Sorry, Sorry Pavel...), and also in the five-volumes work about the history of the Czech Army from the beginning up around 1970. It was published in the late eighties ( the sixth volume was never published due to.... ).
