Star Trek rank insignia is nice, but, it is a little over-used. If we could try and find some sort of rarely used rank insignia like horizontal chevrons or hash marks. WE JUST NEED SOMETHING!!!

Navy Ranks, because the are international used, easy to understand and well known:

And they are looking good. :wink:

Calderon, why don't you give it a bash and come up with something for the forum to use?

DvT,

I would be happy to try if that is what Pavel and crew would like.

How about...we try and merge two or three ideas, see if everyone agrees, and work from there?

CB,

I am all in favor of anything that Pavel and the other admins want/agree upon.

Pavel - would you care to make comment?

Though this is relatively mediocre, I have already made a few things just to spark up some imagination.

It's a good idea, that erskine should create some proposals of new insignia (not more than three) for the forum. After presenting the proposals the members of the forum should vote. And than - let's go!

Cody has given some good suggestions as well. The vote idea is a good one.

I would suggest the following action plan (Pavel?):

1) Cody, Erskine and anyone else that wants to create a Proposal set of insignia (I may even try myself) should present it to the forum by Sept 15th.

2) Forum members vote on the Proposal sets until the end of Sept

3) At the end of the month, the set with the highest vote is implemented

Oh yes. Another suggestion. There should be votes on the newer postions added, and only after that should the participating artists (Erskine, DvTonder, and Myself etc.) make insignias. This would let them have more time and provid eus some "Creative brainstorming." Overall, I like the sound of this so far. See what one post can do?

Erskine/Cody,

See http://www.eubanks-clan.org/civiloffcsacap.jpg (thanks to OkieRam)

With little modification, the 1st column insignia can for the basis for a new Forum insignia grouping - e.g.

Silver Wreath, No Star to 4 silver stars
Gold Wreath, No Star to 4 gold stars

That allows for 10 levels. If more levels are needed, one could do a 1/2 wreath and maybe add a marshal's star ranking for the highest level - that would give a total of 11 to 16 levels

With OkieRam's permission, I can take some of his images and do a mockup.

I have a draft mockup done - will upload it tonight.

I have a mockup done and will upload it tonight.

1st level - 1/3rd Wreath, 0 - 3 stars
2nd level - 2/3rd Wreath, 0 - 3 stars
3rd level - full Wreath, 0 - 3 stars
4th level - full Wreath, 1 large (Marshal) star

Total of 13 levels.

From what I can gather, there's been some kind of trouble with the mechanics of the forum for a while. I can't seem to find any posts related to it, but I've been unable to actually enter the forum for three months. I'm assuming that everyone has had this problem because it has been eighty days since the last reply to this discussion, and I doubt that it would be left languishing for so long. I was able to confirm this when I checked the 'recent posts' and found that there have been only two in the past 76 days. Thus, I would like to reopen this topic and urge quickness of action. We are fast approaching the one-year aniversary of this topic.

Wow, that is actually astounding. I shall light a firecracker and set it off in my topic's anniversary...

But, I really have nothing new, and I just got back from a trip in the Ukraine on some business, so I don't know, maybe I will come up with something.

hi everyone
i have been thinking about the rankings of persons here so after reading all the five pages of proposals and questions etc. i think i can say that it is better to link ranks to nationality for ex. Icelandic = Icelandic rank. or Polish = Polish rank etc.
so what do you think about it

ps thanks for the promotion :D

Well, uh, I may have some good news and a new idea. How about we do something a bit different, such as adopting differing rank insignia styles and mixing them together to make differing patterns, or making the ranks different colors for differing departments such as the following:

Navy Blue=Normal Members
Crimson=Moderators
White=Administrators

Just a guess or a suggestion to spark up some more imagination.

Yes this has taken a long time :D
The ranking of forum members is obviously hard work, the post that Cody Blackshear added the last time reminded me on insignia that we used to have in the rescue team that im a member of some years back but the colouring was slightly different there ( helmet colours )

Blue = sergeants
Yellow = lieutenants
red = captains

or as it is in the fire departent of my hometown ( wich im also a member of ).

yellow = fire officers
red = sergeants
white = captain

So i can say that this is a good way of ranking members there is also a possibility of adding more colours or mixing them.

greetings.

Haha, I like this thread. I was not here for a long time (Almost a year), but still no new Rank System. :D

I still like the idea of using navy ranks. Stripes. Basic. 1. 2. 3. etc. Easy to understand. Know almost everywhere on the world.

Dear sir allow me to offer you my proposal. It's an idea about a new ranking system with stars.

Recognizing Financial Contributions Too!

Hi Everyone!

In a similar classification to the ranks that everybody gets, (based on their level of participation and position of responsibility to run the UniformInsignia Forum), weren't the MEDALS (which always seem to say "NONE") for everyone, supposed to recognize financial contributions to our UniformInsignia Forum?

I'd be glad to contribute more to our Forum financially, as long as I could be sure that the contribution was at least received and acknowledged.
