First Special Service Force – Devils Brigade – Black devils

I don't generally do the “patch thing” but the more I look at them I realize how much history is there.
This is the unit insignia of a very unique unit "First Special Service Force" the subject of the 1962 film called The Devils Brigade (movie link here http://imdb.com/title/tt0062886)
They were in reality a first of it’s kind unit. An integrated force of American & Canadian troops in WW II called the “First Special Service Force” essentially a commando/ranger style force. Both US and Canadian personnel had to sign a waiver stating they would obey a superior officer of either service as their own. At the time technically an illegal move as it meant that they had to listen to as an example an American Captain over a Canadian Lieutenant or a Canadian Major over an American Captain. Interestingly the 90th (Royal Winnipeg Rifles) were called the “little black devils” and I will post the regimental badge tomorrow.
