This is the new collar insignia for patrol officers, was introduced January 1, 2000, when the Departments' new uniforms were issued. This small patch is only 2" tall and 1 1/2" wide at its widest point. Prior to these, patrol officers wore metal F.L.P.D. 's on their collar. Lieutenants, Captains, and the Chief of Police continue to wear metal rank insignia on their collars.
