All admins: PLEASE correct the sapeurs-pompiers rank designations. Right now, the officers rank designation is rendered as "Mr. Captain", "Mr Major" and so on. In French, one calles an officer "Mon Capitaine" if he/she is also in the military, and it litterally means Mr. Captain, or more accurately "Captain, Sir".

Thank you very much for this correction. Of course, I noticed that, but, since I don't want to play at the "arrogant Frenchie" game (seeming always tracking a mistake as an offense ), I frankly prefer that someone else does that !!!
Little precision : all ranks are addressed "my" from "adjudant" to "général". For a woman, this is to be ommitted. . .

Yes, and as much as I know, it's polite not to use the "mon" form, unless one is also in the military or has been so.
as to the "arrogant Frenchie" stuff, I don't think that pointig out a mistake would be considered by anyone as beeing "arrogance". One can not expect everybody to speak perfectly all languages. Not to mention that the very purpose of this forum is to point out the mistakes.
