I recently obtained an extaordinary book about uniforms ( and Rank Insignia, off course ! ) of the Chinese Army, Navy, Air Force and Police, from 1904 to 2000. It is entitled : "Chinese Regimental 100 Years", and only drawback, is entierely in Chinese. However it's fully illustrated by thousands of color drawings on more than 450 pages. Of course, The "Nationalist" period halts in 1949, but it yet impressive that it is described in a publication issued by the opponents !!!
It costs 45 USD + PP, or 55 Euros ( with Airmail to Europe ).
