''The Bangladesh Army has changed the rank title of JCO and NCOs back in year 2000. The changed titles are:
1.Lance Naik - Lance Corporal
2.Naik - Corporal
3.Havildar - Sergeant
4.Naib Subedar - Warrant Officer
5.Subedar - Senior Warrant Officer
6.Subedar Major - Master Warrant Officer
Basically it is a translation of old Bangladeshi/Mughal/British Indian Ranks to modern NATO/Western style ranks to increase interoperatibility between Bangladeshi and Western forces, particularly during joint UN peacekeeping missions.'
The Bangladesh Air Force also amended its rank structure in 2003.
