Hello again, as anybody can see I am a big anime fan. And as expected new Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Destiny brought new set rank of insignias. There are 3 ((4), OMNI Enforcers despite slightly different uniform are part of Earth Alliance even though they obey to a Blue Cosmos rather than allied government) political entities with standing armed forces. Therefore, armed forces of ZAFT, EA, and a Kingdom of Orb, have their own set of ranks. Right now I am looking for the set of ranks for each state. Nevertheless, due to alack of material, at least so far, I can only guess what these rank signified. Ironically, the most available art for the characters of Earth Alliance does not show exactly all ranks. What I am wondering about, in the EAAF there two sets of insignias, one collar insignia, which resembles normal patterns of ranks, the other is a chest set of insignias, that one responsible not as standard ranks but rather a level of experience or superiority, especially for rank of an Admiral. Thus how in real military level of superiority/experience – played role in command and promotions, and if somebodies lower rank but higher experience, how that influence chain of command?

How about the Universal Century Gundam Ranks?

What about them, they all known, and they are pretty much streight forward, from both sides:Zeon, Axis, Crossbone, AEUG, Titans, League Militare, and Feds. Enigma though, Second Neo Zeon (Char's Forces) and Lando Bell.

Zeon, Axis, Neo Zeon the same, only during last days of the 0079 War was introduced the system of simplified collar ranks. AEUG, Titans, League Militare, and Feds are the same, the color of collars might be different though.

Crossbone -- an odd ranks, postioned like an old Star Fleet pattern.

So that's what it is. Then it is no wonder why I have been so confused whilst watching that show. I didn't know who was who, or what rank meant which. Though, I do not frequent Anime, so it does nto help me individually. Thanks, though.

Sure, I have not seen any Zeon rank updates for a long time, since everybody where "wow" over seed and now 00!

The top ranks are worn in the collars of flight suits. Possible camo fatigues, too.

Those on the lower left are worn in the chest and in the dress uniforms. Those in the lower right are cape rank insignia.

Those on the bottom are collar ranks in the dress uniforms. The one with the fat wings are of those of the C-in-Chief.

I think I should create ZAFT military ranks...but ZAFT had a ranking system in the series like those in Maoist China [if you get the joke.]

Also the 00 ranks should be made. I found out an idea already for the European faction. It should be worn on the right-breast pocket. We could second the ESA rank insignia back at the Space Force discussion. I had to brainstorm more about the Union and the Human Reformation League, though.

The latter (Human Reform League) should be no brainier, since its a combination of China and Russia, I personally think of collar ranks, like North Korea today, however in style of Nationalist where the square instead of rhomboid-like. From Private to the Chief are strips, from Subaltern to Senior Colonel -- triangles, from Major General to Colonel General stars, army color silver background only red strips for NCO's, and red lines for the officers, gold triangles and further stars.

Something unrelated to 00 or rather Seed per say, I came out with new mega-state: East-Eurasian Federation a combination (here we go): Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bessarabia (Moldova and Transnistria), Russia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia. As a state in the Gundam universe. Symbol on state ensign: on a White Blue and Red field a Golden Double-Headed Eagle with the red star at the heads, with shield in a middle where lion rests (instead of traditional St. George slaying a dragon), while in the left claw is sword the other Compass and Hummer, thus mixing many peoples, but with Russian dominance. There two style uniforms and insignias: one for outside, very similar to those of Earth Alliance, only colors are green,blue, red, and white, and insignias on collars, all pips, till general ranks, they are stars. Internal uniform, traditional East-European cut with shoulder bars that resemble Bulgarian style rather till the Generals:

Hmm...I also ended up seeing the HRL as what you wished.

Like the Earth Federation in UC Gundam but with five-pointed stars instead of diamonds.

It's the Union that we had to think for..

This is the rank insignia of the Earth Sphere Federation in Gundam 00. Both regular and A-LAWS forces wear this insignia.

I did not know this, since there no 2nd season art/data books available for public, besides the first season, no nation had real ranks, akin Orb in Gundam Seed, where the meaningful rank insignias appeared only in Destiny.

Nope, I just created it, like a fanart. Because the chain of command will break down due to lack of rank insignia.

Interesting, I thought u got from the art books. One thing to point out, the Earth Sphere Federation (Gundam Wing) ranks were developed by Yutaka Izubuchi. I got his design work series I (1) book, page 79 with the same ranks (b&w though). Also, seems to there ranks for the ESF AF Navy cuff ranks akin GBR, but there no description of those, unfortunately... There some sort of ranks for the "Preventors" of Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, but I have no info on those.
