Hi Everyone!

Presented here is the insignia of rank worn by officers and enlisted personnel of the Israeli Foreign Legion.

Enlisted personnel wear their rank insignia on both arms, mid-sleeve, centered between the shoulder and elbow.

Officers rank insignia are worn on shoulder straps, on both shoulders.

Who can join the IFL? Only those who had proven Jewish descent?

I was thinking that the only restriction would be that Israeli citizens could not serve in the Israeli Foreign Legion, (as citizens would be serving in the Israeli Defence Forces.)

All able-bodied non-Israelis 18 years of age and above could join the Israeli Foreign Legion. (Both Jews and non-Jews could serve, as one's religion, religious descent, ethnic descent or race would not matter.) Members of anti-Israeli / anti-Jewish organisations would of course be banned.

IFL members are expected to acquire or have at least a working knowledge of basic Hebrew, with the goal of increasing fluency beyond the basics.

After 10 years or so of honourable service, IFL members can choose to become Israeli citizens should they wish.

It is fascinating, but how come I never heard about this legion before? Is this fictional, like Starfleet or Earthforce, or for real?

The Israeli Foreign Legion is fictional.
I made up the IFL and their rank insignia, however, if anyone is interested in this Israeli Foreign Legion concept (and their insignia of rank), and you'd like to write stories, etc., about them, please feel free to do so!

I do believe the IDF has something similar to this called the Masada 2000 program but you have to be Jewish to join.
