The new search system needs getting use to, but otherwise kinda cool!
Bit colder than before, though...

BTW, what format are the images in?
What program was used to make them?
If they're done in vector graphics, would the SVGs be available?
Wrong API

Has anyone else received the warning that Google maps API key was registered for a different site?
User name and password for forum doesn’t work, do we have to reregister?

The warning about maps appears if you are using the old address uniformindignia.NET. The browser request is redirected to the new address (uniforminsignia.ORG) however the googlemaps still see the NET domain so there is a kind of mismatch.
I had no problems with enetering forum with the old login data.

When your browser tells you the sights not registered you tend to wonder.
I didn't wish to be redirected without knowing where I was going.
Thanks for that.

Happy Christmas

Hi Everyone!
I recently made two (2) contributions through PayPal to the UniformInsignia site. I'd just like to know if they got to the right people, as I'd like to try to contribute more in the near future.
Thanks!

Seems I'm being ignored, but.... I'm ignored all the time, so I don't mind...
Anyway, I asked if the images on the main site are made with vector graphs, and if the resources would be available when so requested.
So are they vectors and can we, the enthusiasts, use the resources?
Even if the answer's no on either/both questions, I'd like to have no ambiguity in the issue.
BTW, does anyone else get a slight glitch in the forums that you have to log in twice before you're actually logged in?

Just so you don't feel completely out of it.
Answer to the log-on is yes.
As for the vector, haven't a clue.
Bad time of year for answers, wait till the turkey digests and the hang-overs clear.
As for being ignored, must be married
.

As far as I know most illustrations are originaly made in Corel Draw (so it's vector graphics) and then converted to jpg or gif. At least Pavel, and Magnum (Mariusz) are using Corel.

As far as I know most illustrations are originaly made in Corel Draw (so it's vector graphics) and then converted to jpg or gif. At least Pavel, and Magnum (Mariusz) are using Corel.
So there isn't any central repository for the vector elements (wreaths, stars, leaves, etc.)?
If there really isn't, would it be a good idea to make one, eg. at photobucket or something? You know, where everyone could dump any elements they'd like.
It is obvious that the images on the site are "merely" exports of the original .svgs in .gif format. It would take IMMENSE skill with photoshop to get that level of detail at those image sizes.
I'm currently updating and renovating my own rank insignia gallery at deviantArt, and because the project would take so much time, I'd like to cut corners wherever I can.
Updated again

Just noticed that the site has been tweaked some more.
The translator is a really nice touch!
Seems that the buggy google map or whatnot has been replaced by the visitor bar.
Didn't know there are so many finns checking out the place.... Or am I the only one, checking the site nigh compulsively?
And the page updates has been extended as well. The site's getting updated so fast, that some updates get lost, if you can't change the page.

I am an administrator of the site now and the update are for mostly translation & rank issues, fixing missing insignia and putting official links and sites

The translations are by google translator, right? Or can you make translations to the system? 'Cause the finnish translations are a bit... eg. "All era" is translated as "Kaikki era" instead of "Kaikki aikakaudet."
Maybe there should be a...translation drive, or smtn. Ask everyone to contribute to translating or smtn...
I hate seeing a private signified by a word meaning some sort of property.

Oh, I really love when in Romanian "dress" is translated as"skirt (as in women's dress"), i.e. "rochie" instead of "tinuta". So instead of service dress it's service skirt ... and it's abour the egyptian army, not some Scottish regiment LOL
