Hi Everyone!

Presented here are my illustrations of the rank/specialty insignia for USAF Enlisted Personnel (E1 to E9), in the career field of Postal Specialist, (Special Duties Identifier 8M000).
(Rank/specialty insignia are permanently placed on rectangular patches, and are worn on both arms, mid-sleeve between shoulder and elbow.)

The specialty insignia (a postal cancellation symbol), is the same as the Postal Clerk (PC) rating for the United States Navy; the United States Naval National Guard; and the United States Coast Guard, (from which it was originally derived.)

USAF Postal Specialists perform all the duties of their Postal Service counterparts outside of the military, and they have other duties specific to their branch of the military.
One such duty is maintaining the AFB Locator File.

I've always associated the bugle as a symbol of the postal service...

Hi Tounushi!

It stands to reason that you'd associate the bugle as the symbol of the postal service, as that seems to be a largely European military tradition.

However, I decided to use the U.S. Navy Postal Clerk rating symbol (the postal cancellation mark), because that has been used in the U.S. Navy for a long time, and so that seemed much more appropriate to the rank insignia I illustrated.
