USAF Manned Aerospace Maintenence Technician (E-1 to E-9)

Hi Everyone!

Presented here are my illustrations of the rank/specialty insignia for several of the AFSC's (Air Force Specialty Codes) for personnel who are USAF Manned Aerospace Maintenence Technicians, from Airman Basic (E-1) to Chief Master Sergeant (E-9).

The specialty insignia is derived from the USN and USCG rating insignia for Aviation Machinist's Mate (AD), which consists of a winged, 2-bladed propeller.

The rank/specialty insignia are set permanently into a rectangular patch, which is itself worn on both arms, mid-sleeve between shoulder and elbow.

This specialty insignia covers at least six (6) AFSC's within the USAF Aerospace Technician career field. These are:
1A0X1--Flight Engineer
2A3X3--Tactical Aircraft Maintenence Technician
2A5X2--Helicopter Maintenence Specialist
2A6X1--Aerospace Propulsion Technician
2A6X4--Aircraft Fuel Systems Technician
2A6X5--Aircraft Hydralics Systems Technician

The "X" in the fourth digit of the AFSC is where the designation number for the skill level goes. For example...1A0X1 (Flight Engineer):
1A011--Flight Engineer (Trainee Level)
1A031--Flight Engineer (Apprentice Level)
1A051--Flight Engineer (Journeyman Level)
1A071--Flight Engineer (Supervisor Level)
1A091--Flight Engineer (Superintendent Level)
